Can the automatic transmission handle a supercharger?

planning to supercharge my 2005 mustang GT. Do you guys think the automatic transmission can keep up with it. If NOT is there an upgrade that can help. (I’m considering a Twin Screw supercharger.) THANX a lot in advance.

just do it! if you break it, fix it then!

    Don’t do it.

You are going to spend a bunch of money, time and effort. The odds are once you are done the transmission will not be able to handle it. Also the suspension and brakes will have trouble keeping up too.

Once you are done you will have an unsafe car with any and all factory warranty voided. You will also have issues with your insurance company, in that by modifying your car in this way you will invalidate your insurance. So now you will have to get a special policy for boy racers like you, and they will charge you through the nose for it. If you don’t tell them and get in an accident, the odds are they will not pay out, and you will be enjoying considerable legal/financial trouble for a long time to come.

Then when you come to sell the car it will be worthless, because no one wants to buy a car that some amateur has messed with in this way. Who wants to take the risk on a car like this, that will probably not last as long, will be more expensive to insure, and has probably been thrashed by the previous owner?

If you want a faster car, save up for a Shelby, or buy a real car. A Mustang is a boy racer car, with bad handling, and dated technology.

ZCT is a IDIOT! Dont know his head from a hole in the ground Im assuming. Nothing wrong with Mustangs, they get bad wraps cause everyone and there bro has one and everyone rices them out. But if your going the twin route I highly suggest upgrading to a trans, its an easy swap, goto the junk yard or look on ebay/graigslist for a used manual trans, cut the holes in the floor and hook it up, trust me youll be very much off with a manual trans, i mean hell if your spending the money to buy twins then you should have the money to make it manual, get a shift kit for the time being..but i suggest building up your interansl before you go and slap some chargers on it, youll fry that engine very quickly with stock internals. but…get a shift kit like said, update your stall coverter, get some 4.10s, go stage 2 or 3 and yes that auto will hang up there, if its done right you wont keep blowing trans even with a auto, hope that helps

    then read this

if you need more, here is the list of upgrades to bring it over to 700rear wheel horsepower:
first you need to get a one-piece drive shaft and safety loops for it. then rear end ring and pinion set for 3;73 or 4;10 from ford racing. all of the above find on the link

    http://www.rpmoutlet.com/05gtfordgear.htm

then get a tci torque converter

    http://www.rpmoutlet.com/05gtjbal.htm

then start with the transmission itself.

add the b&m quicksilver console automatic transmission shifter. it will allow you to perform very much like a manual.
follow the link below to find it.

and add the b&m oil cooler for the automatic transmission.

then drain all the fluids and get royal purple transmission oil. and rear end lube.

very happy to help you out.
    ask if need more info.

My Supercoupe with Eaton had a automatic AOD, the factory beefed it up and added extra cooling. we put in a shift kit. you could try a shift kit and aux tranny cooler like used for towing.
